Hello February!
We are into another month with more events coming your way from your temple!
We look forward to our annual Keirokai to be held on Sunday, February 16th in conjunction with our Nirvana Day and February Shotsuki Service. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thanks Joyce and Lynne for taking care of arrangements for our luncheon.
Our Keirokai is patterned after the national holiday in Japan, Keiro-no-Hi, which honors and respects its elders. On this day, it is a great opportunity to reconnect with all our older family temple members. It is because of them that we are who we are, what we are and where we are. Interconnectedness and Interdependence!
On Saturday, February 22, Brandon is planning a Sangha Outing to China Creek County Park from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. It should be a nice day provided it doesn’t rain. If you are able, please join in on the community effort to beautify the countryside. Please see the flyer in this newsletter for more information. This outing is also a great way for students to gain some community service experience as well. Call Brandon if you have questions.
The Buddhist Church of Parlier would like to thank Satoshi Kanuma and Tim & Connor Kozuki for quietly coming out at various times to clean up the messes made by the neighborhood dogs. We appreciate their dana and thoughtfulness in making sure that our church grounds are clean and looking good. Thanks Satoshi, Tim and Connor!
Congratulations to Warren Yoshimoto and Glen Sasai for moving into their new and expanded restaurant, Koji’s Bento-2-Go in Kingsburg. If you haven’t dined there yet, please do. Everything on their menu is delicious!
Looking ahead to March, mark your calendars for the CCBWL Conference that our BWA along with Visalia's BWA will be hosting. The theme is “Everyone Has a Story to Tell”. Our BWA ladies are pulling out all the stops for a great event so please join in. You won’t regret it! Men are invited to come as well. The keynote speaker will be Reverend Candice Shibata of the Stockton Buddhist Church.
And lastly, our BCP Community Picnic has been slated for Sunday, April 27th, so reserve that date for a fun-filled time with your family and friends. More information to follow in the next newsletter.
Enjoy the coming month with compassion, care, contentment and gratitude!
